BACKPACKING RESORT.. An oxymoron many would claim.. I would like to share with you guys my first experience at a backpackers resort (I had no idea such a thing existed).. I give you:

Drumroll please….. Mui Ne Backpackers Village and Resort.. My first ever luxurious experience – at a hostel??? Yep.. at a rate of less than $10USD you can get a tiny taste of paradise by the beach.

Mui Ne is a fishing village, a 3-4 hour drive from Saigon in Vietnam, that has become more and more popular due to its beaches that cater to wind and kite surfers as well as surfers at certain times of the year. Locals call it the “adrenaline capital of Vietnam” so if you are of the more adventurous type or maybe just want to get out of the hustle&bustle from the city, you can take a $5USD bus drive over here to experience the fishing village. And eat some amazing seafood while you are it. You can read more about things to do in Mui Ne in our upcoming post. :)

You will find many resorts along the 10km stretch that is Mui Ne and some are reasonably priced for resorts but nothing beats the incredibly cheap price of $6-8 USD for a dorm room at Mui Ne Backpackers Village. There are private rooms or dorms available, depending on your preference. Dorms have six beds each- no bunk beds!! #winning, and the rooms are incredibly spacious with AC, lockers (bring your own lock or buy one for $1USD at the reception), a huge pool, its own restaurant and bar as well as Jeeps ready every day to take you from the hostel out to explore the town. It’s one of those stays you won’t want to leave or won’t find the need to ever leave – a resort in definition. You have everything at your disposal here, whatever you need, the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly and will do their best to help make the best of your stay. They will even make sure to help you arrange your transport around Vietnam. It’s certainly a good place to come and relax, not have to worry about where to go eat, where to go explore, where to catch a bus. Everything comes to you, the tours, the buses, the shuttles, the scooter rentals. You name it!!

Another big Yes Yes to coming here is if you are coming solo. Just step into the resort at any time of the day and the pool will be full of fellow backpackers and riders enjoying some drinks under the sun. Need I say more? I really do not exaggerate when I say the Village’s hospitality is the number one reason you want to come here, specially if you’ve stayed at other places in Nam, I regret to admit that staff hasn’t been all that friendly or helpful at other spots I’ve visited. Don’t come here thinking of it as a bed for the night because it really isn’t, it will be a part of your itinerary. You will get to meet the best people and go on awesome tours with other travelers that just like you needed to chill and be stress-free for some days. Vacation from vacations it is! If that makes any sense. #onlytravelerswillunderstand
