Newport beach is a great spot to spend a relaxing weekend, most of the activities are at the beach of course, and there is great food and bars to check out for the late afternoons and evenings. You can stay at one of the resorts as well and they will set up with a complete itinerary for individuals or families. I live close by so I drive up for the weekend and drive around the close beaches; laguna, corona del mar, emerald bay and head out to the bars in the evening. Lots of fun, a more chill kind of fun than LA offers and you get to meet pretty cool people, beach people you know? hahaha
Things to do >>
Basically, beach or shop ’till you die..
-Head out to Balboa Peninsula to check out the Pier for some amazing views of the coast, you can also head out to the arcade or the ferry’s wheel.. There is a Ruby’s dinner at the end of the pier but I would highly recommend eating at some of the other, local restaurants.
-Stop by Fashion Island mall, even if it’s just window shopping, this is truly heaven’s island for fashionistas! And for those of you who are not, I would still check it out, there is a store for you as well I assure you..
-Feeling artsy? Head out to the Orange County Museum of Art or the Newport Beach.
-You can rent a bike and spend the day at the boardwalk!
-For a day at the beach head out to Crystal Cove State Park where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks and even Jetpacks now! If you’r into surfing head out to the wedge or for a less crowded beach heat out to Little Corona in Corona del Mar (From Pacific Coast Highway, turn south on Poppy Avenue, a very narrow road that leads to a cliff above the ocean. This is where you can go down a paved path to Corona del Mar State Beach.).
