San Francisco… I head out here for the food and the music honestly. Great concerts all the time, great night life and great local shopping as well.
Things to do >>
-Take a tour out to Alcatraz prison; you can set out from the marina about an hours long, $30 USD Cruise the Golden Gate and get to see prison from the inside.
-Visit The Exploratorium; an interactive museum with great exhibits and a great view from Bay Observatory. Must check out wave organ a wave-activated acoustic sculpture located on the bay right outside the exhibit. Sounds like a place to take the kids but it is actually fun for adults as well!
-Walk around Fisherman’s Wharf on Pier 39; you can visit the sea lion center and eat the best chowder bread bowl soup. All along the PIER you will find local shopping stores, coffee spots and great seafood restaurants.
-Walk or bike the Golden Gate bridge through “Vista Point” for an amazing view of the structure and bay. You can rent a bike for $10 and take a tour through the bridge.
-Visit Chinatown for some great food and shopping. You can spend a couple of hours here, EASY! Great picture spots, great shops with unique items from China, and really good food and teas.
-Famous Lombardi St, yes it’s famous if you’re in SF you might as well check it out but that’s basically it, you drive by it or walk down in 2 minutes.
–Chambers eat & drink rated best burger in town, best part you can have a great dinner under the stars. $15-23
–Dear Mom A gourmet pub grub & play pool or video games. $10-20
–Trick dog greatest variety of craft cocktails and eclectic small plats $5-15
–21st Amendment Brewery; great vibes, great beer. Must try the watermelon beer!!
–El Techo de Lolinda; great Mexican food and drinks, head out there during the day or at night; it’s at the terrace so
Where to eat >>
–Mission Chinese (Lu Chang Restaurant); on Mission, best Chinese food I’ve ever had hands down! They also serve 21st amendment beer, make sure you try this local beer. $5-20 USD
–The Stinking Rose; even the desserts include garlic, (must love garlic) miiiind bloooown! Most unoriginal dishes but the most original flavor you will crave it for the rest of your trip I swear $12-30 USD
–Frances: on Castro, this place is always packed for a reason-farm-to-table california eatery with hearty, delicious plates.., must try the lumberjack cake and bacon beignets $15-30 USD
–Bar Tartine: twist on American-European food, a must visit on your stay. If you dont’ want to spend as much time or money you can check out their sandwich shop right next door $15-20 USD
–Namu Gaji; on Dolores, rustic decor and a great variation of Korean plates, make sure you try the KFC wings. $15-30
