I never know what gear to buy when adding to my collection of must haves! No matter how many reviews I read and how many blogs talk about equipment and gear I have found that it really all depends on the use you are going to give the item and on the way you use these items. You need to understand first what you want to use it for and then figure out where to buy and which reviews to invest your time on.
I have purchased items with amazing reviews and have found them not to be so great when you are actually camping out in the middle of nowhere at temperatures of -10 degrees. It’s hard to know what to buy, for what conditions, for a particular place you are planning to go out but I can say that there is one thing that I can highly recommend and advise to buy right away if you find yourself out in the open quiet often!!
I bought Coleman’s Instant Tent about a year ago and still puts a smile on my face every time I go camping. I build it in 3 seconds with no effort whatsoever while I watch everyone else get all those rods into place. It’s extremely practical in that it folds out and fits into a small case, easy to carry and acceptable to check in at airports at no extra charge. It might not be as affordable as other products of its kind but I do recommend investing the money so you can have the extra time later on when you travel.
It will withstand and protect you from the harsh winds and cold of Chile, or you can open up the windows and camp out in Baja and will keep the tent moderately cool. This is an item I am happy happy to have invested on and has saved me so much money on my trips, instead of paying for hotels/hostels I travel with my tent and have more money to go more places! Voilaaaa!
